Strata
Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
Private Commission
Palo Alto, CA
8'-4" x 10'-0"
2009
Throughout the new offices of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, time is metaphorically expressed on several scales. On the one hand, the lobby skylight affords a view of the sky, reminding one of cosmic time. The glass walls, titled Strata, suggest the Earth’s sedimentary layers as exposed by a fissure through its surface. As a visitor seated in the waiting area, you are flanked by glistening textured glass interrupted by streaks of precious reflective glass.
