With an observatory and a lake view, this Mid-Century Modern home lacked a main entrance and needed a facelift. Originally built in the mid-seventies by an engineer-builder, the house includes passive thermal elements that were groundbreaking at the time. However, the cramped kitchen did not work for the family cook, a contestant on the Food Network’s cooking competition, Top Chef. The original carport, another antiquated feature of the original home, was converted into a two-car garage. The renovated home for a family of five is now their hub for entertaining and classic California indoor-outdoor living.
