The color and shapes of the San Francisco Bay salt ponds, as seen from the air, are a distinctive feature of the Bay Area landscape. Winding their way through the salt ponds are several major sloughs and innumerable minor branches of the sloughs. Evident in the sinuous shapes of these wateways is fractal geometry.
